Watershed Reforestation Program Reaches 1 Million Trees

The community-based reforestation program in the Pantabangan-Carranglan Watershed has planted its one-millionth tree.

A major milestone was reached this month as the Pantabangan-Carranglan Watershed reforestation program planted its one-millionth tree. The program, a partnership between the DENR, local government, and community volunteers, has been running since 2018.

The reforestation effort is critical to maintaining water quality in the reservoir, preventing siltation, and preserving biodiversity. Over 500 families from watershed communities have participated in the program, which also provides livelihood through seedling nurseries and eco-tourism guiding.
